Alabama's largest offseason prep event is taking place this week.
The Wells Fargo National High School Summer Showcase, a prep baseball tournament, will take place in Hoover June 9-11.
The state's largest offseason prep baseball event is hosted by the Hoover Baseball Club and Spain Park Baseball and will feature over 40 teams. Games will be played at different venues, including Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, Rickwood Field, Pelham High School, Hoover High School, Spain Park High School, Homewood High School, the Spain Park Recreational Complex and Shades Mountain Community Park.
“Our area has earned a reputation for being an excellent place to attend an event and baseball is no different,” said Rookie Gage, the tournament’s organizer. “This is a special opportunity for our community to host some of the top high schools in the southeastern U.S. and for the players who are participating to gain experience and show off their talents for their future high school coaches, teammates and maybe even some scouts.
A daily pass is $8 and admission for the entire weekend is $15, and children 12 and younger are admitted free. Student and senior discounts are available. A complete schedule of game times and participants may be found at www.quickscores.com/hooverbaseballclub.
“Just like the SEC tournament a couple of weeks ago, we will be all-baseball, all-day so we think this is an excellent opportunity for youth coaches and teams especially to come out and enjoy what will really be a lot of the top teams and players in the state on their level," Gage said.
