Hoover High 2013
After missing last week's game due to an injury, Hoover Bucs quarterback Jack Hutcheson returned with a vengance, passing for 231 yards and two touchdowns en route to a 41-9 victory over Minor.
Hutcheson put up the impressive numbers despite leaving the game in the third quarter. Star running back Bradrick Shaw only played in the first half, but scored three touchdowns and rushed for 73 yards.
The Hoover defense stifled Minor throughout the game, allowing only 86 total yards. Minor attempted 23 passes during the game and threw three interceptions while only gaining 15 yards.
The 41-9 blowout could have been much worse, as Minor's curious decision to kick the ball to Hoover All-American Marlon Humphrey resulted in two kick returns for touchdowns. Both plays, however, were negated by penalties.
The win extended Hoover's winning streak to 23 games, preserved their top ranking in Class 6A, and leads them a step closer to the Region championship.
Next week, the Bucs play the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats for a chance to clinch the Region title.
