Four Hoover defenders scored touchdowns and limited Bessemer City to seven points, earning the teammates Players of the Week honors from The Hoover Sun.
Cornerback Marlon Humphrey matched the entire Bessemer City scoring when he returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. Afterward, the defense stifled an otherwise powerful Bessemer City offense. Three of Humphrey's teammates also scored, returning interceptions for touchdowns.
"Every Tuesday is takeaway Tuesday," Hoover Head Coach Josh Niblett explained. We work on forcing turnovers with our defense, and our offense works hard to avoid committing turnovers.
Friday, the Bucs put their number one ranking, undefeated season, and winning streak on the line against Hillcrest of Tuscaloosa.
