The Heart and Sole team from Brock's Gap Intermediate School in Hoover, Alabama, has been preparing for the Girls on the Run Birmingham Community 5K, to be held in downtown Birmingham on Saturday, May 7, 2016.
Teams of girls from three Hoover schools are scheduled to participate in the upcoming Girls on the Run Birmingham Community 5K in downtown Birmingham.
Girls from Brock’s Gap Intermediate School and Riverchase and Trace Crossings elementary schools have been training for the event, scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, at Marconi Park (at the corner of 24th Street and Seventh Avenue North).
Girls on the Run Birmingham is an organization dedicated to teaching girls in the third through eighth grades to be healthy and confident through a curriculum that creatively integrates running. The goal is that by the end of the 10-week character development program, the girls are prepared to run a 5K.
The community is encouraged to participate in the 5K and can register at www.girlsontherunbham.org.
