What began as a backyard crawfish boil thrown by a group of friends in Ross Bridge to raise money for a child battling cancer has evolved to a non-profit organization run by the same group of friends.
The Hope for Autumn Foundation will host its annual Crawfish Boil Saturday, April 27 from 3-9 p.m. on the Green at Ross Bridge.
The event features all-you-can-eat crawfish by Louisiana native John Hein, activities and food for kids, and a silent auction.
Rollin in the Hay and the Clammers will provide live music.
Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. All proceeds benefit Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorder's Developmental Therapeutics Program, as well as local child cancer patients Coleman Parker and Kayda Richey.
The Hope for Autumn Foundation raises and distributes funds to assist individuals and/or families in distress and/or in need of medical and/or monetary support. Funds are also used to sustain research to identify novel treatment approaches for children with cancer who are unresponsive to traditional or standard therapies. In addition, the foundation advocates for and/or provides educational programs regarding related healthcare topics, therapeutic options, and/or issues.
