On May 24, the Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation held its Remembrance Program to honor veterans from Hoover and across Alabama who were added to the “Honor List of Alabama’s Dead” since the last ceremony in May 2014.
The AVMF also dedicated StepStones purchased to honor veterans, living and deceased. Each StepStone is a brick paver engraved with the veteran’s name, rank and branch of service and installed for permanent viewing in the American Flag Plaza at the AVMF headquarters, 100 Overton Access Road.
During the event, guests viewed the “Faces of the Price of Freedom” display created by the Blue Star Salute Foundation. They also listened to the Bob Moore Band and visited the Memorial Plaza and Hall of Honor.
The AVMF will hold another StepStone dedication ceremony on November 9 in honor of Veteran’s Day. Visit alabamaveterans.org for more information.
