The Hoover City Schools Foundation’s fourth annual Denim & Dining fundraiser is moving to a new location this year.
The event, held the past three years in the banquet room at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, is scheduled for 6:30-10 p.m. on Friday, April 12, at Noah’s Event Venue at 2501 International Park Place, off Acton Road.
Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q will be in charge of the dining portion of the event, and guests are asked to wear the denim.
The night begins with cocktails and a silent auction from 6:30-7:45 p.m., with music being provided by groups from Hoover and Spain Park high schools, followed by a 10-minute program and live auction.
Simmons Middle School teacher Robert Abernathy is scheduled to provide music from 8:30 to 10 p.m. and dancing is welcomed, said Janet Turner, executive director for the Hoover City Schools Foundation.
Auction items were still being gathered at press time, but the silent auction typically has included items such as gift certificates to restaurants, beach and vacation trips, golf packages and gift baskets.
This year, parent organizations from Hoover schools are helping gather items for the auction and will share in proceeds from the items they supply, Turner said. It’s just another way for parent groups and the foundation to work cooperatively, she said.
Proceeds from the fundraiser as a whole will help the Hoover City Schools Foundation provide grants to teachers and others who work in Hoover schools to do innovative projects to educate children.
About 275 people attended the 2018 Denim & Dining event, which raised about $39,000, Turner said. This year, the new venue can hold up to 320 people, and “I’m hoping we sell out,” she said.
General admission tickets cost $65 in advance and increase to $75 three days before and include admission, dinner and two drink tickets. VIP tickets cost $125 and include reserved seating, wine at the table and an engraved wine glass.
Employees of Hoover City Schools receive a $15 discount, and past winners of foundation grants are admitted free. To buy tickets, go to hoovercsf.org.
