A Tuscaloosa County man has been charged within two separate incidents which two women were robbed at gunpoint outside the Riverchase Galleria, according to a Hoover Police report.
Authorities are calling the suspect, Devon Samir Minter, 21 of Lake View, a serial robber, charging him with similar robberies in Mountain Brook and other area cities.
According to Hoover Police Capt. Gregg Rector, on April 7 at 6:30 p.m. a woman was robbed at gunpoint while sitting in her vehicle in the south parking deck at the Riverchase Galleria. The gunman took her wallet, credit cards and iPhone before fleeing in an unknown vehicle.
On April 17 at 8:20 p.m., another woman was exiting her car in the north parking deck of the Riverchase Galleria when she was approached by an unknown male who pointed a handgun and demanded her valuables.
He took her purse, credit cards and iPhone before fleeing in a black Dodge Charger.
Multiple law enforcement agencies throughout the Birmingham metro area have been working together over the past few weeks, comparing evidence and similarities among several robbery cases.
On Tuesday, May 5, Birmingham investigators discovered and shared a crucial piece of video evidence that led to Minter being identified. He is responsible for the two armed robberies that occurred in Mountain Brook and numerous others throughout the area.
Arrests warrants were obtained May 7, and a $375,000 bond has been set. Minter was taken into custody May 6 and formally charged with two counts of robbery first degree and fraudulent use of a credit card.
While multiple agencies assisted Hoover Detectives during this investigation, Birmingham Police detectives and the Birmingham Crime Reduction Team played a vital role in the resolution of this case, Hoover Police Capt. Gregg Rector said.
Minter is a suspect in a case in which a woman was robbed at gunpoint Monday night, May 4, while sitting in her car in a parking lot at 201 Office Park.
The gunman drove off in an older model Dodge Charger, according to Mountain a brook police. Last week, a gunman robbed a man in the parking lot outside Macy's at Brookwood Village.
