0513 Jazz fest
Festival goers set up to watch jazz performances at last year’s Preserve Jazz Festival.
The 3rd Annual Preserve Jazz Prelude will kick off the Preserve Jazz Festival activities Saturday, June 1 at 7 p.m. at Samford’s Brock Recital Hall.
The event will feature pianist/vocalist Frank McComb. The one night performance is a solo living room- style concert. McComb, a season musician, has toured with Tenna Marie and Phillip Bailey, and played as a member of the band Buckshot LeFonque. His first entirely solo album, “A Tribute to the Masters” was comprised of instrumentals paying homage to jazz luminaries such as Chick Corea, Patrice Rushen, Ramsey Lewis, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Russell Ferrante and Joe Sample.
The Preserve Jazz Prelude is a pre-event for the 7th annual Preserve Jazz Festival occurring on Sunday, June 2. Prelude tickets are included with the ticket price for the Jazz Festival. Tickets can be purchased online at preservejazz.com. General admission tickets cost $40, VIP tickets are $125, and there is a special Tent 4 Ten package, which contains 10 tickets that each cost $65. A portion of all ticket cost goes to a scholarship donation and is tax deductible.
