0814 Autism shines gala
Staff at Donohoo Auto will their auction vehicle.
The Autism Society of Alabama is hosting the Autism Shines Gala on Aug. 23 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Ross Bridge Resort.
The gala, formerly known as the FROG Affair, is a fundraiser hosted by the Board of Directors for the Autism Society of Alabama. The event welcomes residents of Birmingham and surrounding counties for a night to celebrate children and adults on the autism spectrum.
This year, JOX Roundtable personalities Lance Taylor, Jim Dunaway and Ryan Brown will emcee the event and call the auction. The auction will include getaway packages up for bid including a deep sea fishing trip, a beach trip and a trip abroad. Other items up for bid will include antiques, sports memorabilia, jewelry and more. There will also be a chance to will a 2011 Mercedes C300 sponsored by Donohoo Auto. Donohoo Auto will donate $10 to the Autism Society now through Aug. 23 for every vehicle they sell.
Fundraising Manager Lauren Reid said, "With the new location at Ross Bridge Resort, we hope to embrace many of our constituents from around the state; plus, hosting the event on a Saturday night will be a draw for attendees to take advantage of enjoying the resort afterwards."
Funds raised will go directly the support the mission and projects of the ASA.
