April 12: Naked Blue
Moonlight on the Mountain 585 Shades Crest Road, Hoover, Alabama
Leading the self-described “guitar-slinging Americana pop band” Naked Blue, the song-writing husband-wife team of Scott and Jen Smith will be performing at Moonlight on the Mountain (585 Shades Crest Road, Hoover) on Friday, April 12. A portion of the proceeds from the concert will benefit the Children’s Hospital Intervention and Prevention Services (CHIPS) Center at Children’s of Alabama, the state’s only pediatric domestic and sexual abuse medical clinic.
Drawing from the Americana tradition, the Smiths have become a mainstay on the folk/pop music scene. They quit their day jobs in 1991 and have been writing, recording and performing ever since. The strength of their songwriting is evident in the way they transition between full band performances at venues like the DAR Constitution Hall and Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. , Webster Hall in New York City and even in acoustic shows at intimate venues like Moonlight on the Mountain. Their music has been featured in both film and television.
Doors to the show open at 6:30 p.m., and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The performance begins at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $15 if purchased online at foundation.childrensal.org in advance and $20 at the door.
The CHIPS Center is a place where child abuse victims can come for help and healing. The CHIPS Center staff is a team of specially trained clinical counselors, doctors, social workers and nurses who work with law enforcement, the Department of Human Resources (DHR), and child advocacy center (CAC) representatives to provide the best possible care for children and families traumatized by physical and/or sexual abuse.
Children’s of Alabama has provided specialized medical care for ill and injured children across the state and throughout the southeastern U.S. since 1911. With more than 2 million square feet, it is the third largest pediatric medical facility in the U.S. Children’s offers inpatient and outpatient services. Children’s of Alabama is the only medical center in Alabama dedicated solely to the care and treatment of children.
