Hoover's season ended in difficult fashion over the weekend.
In its first round playoff series against Hewitt-Trussville, the Bucs battled weather and the Huskies' hot bats.
On Friday, the teams only got part of the first game in before the rains came. After resuming play Saturday, Hewitt-Trussville wrapped up an 18-4 victory in the first game.
The second game was much more competitive, as the two teams went back and forth all game. The Bucs notched a pair of runs in the first inning, the Huskies responded with four in the third and added another in the fourth. The Bucs stormed back with three additional runs to tie the game at 5-5 in the fifth.
In the sixth inning, Hewitt got two more runs, and with the season on the line, Hoover matched those two runs to tie the game and send it into extra innings.
But in the eighth inning, Jamison Stennis hit a walk-off grand slam for the Huskies to send them to an 11-7 game win and series victory.
