Hoover won Class 7A, Area 5 in the regular season, giving the Lady Bucs the top seed and allowing them to host the area tournament.
First up was a matchup against the fourth seed, Oak Mountain, on Wednesday night, a game that Hoover won easily, 59-22.
The Lady Bucs jumped out to an unbelievable first quarter, outscoring Oak Mountain 27-4. Hoover led 39-8 at the halftime break and cruised through the second half.
Kelci Marable led the team with 13 points, and VCU-signee Jailyn Maddox added nine points.
The win assures Hoover a spot in the regional round of the state playoffs, which will take place next week.
Hoover hosts Thompson in the area championship game on Friday at 6 p.m.
