The Hoover Lady Bucs (23-6) defeated Oak Mountain 39-23 at Hoover on Wednesday. They will advance to host Thompson on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Class 7A, Area 5 final. The boys area final will be at 7 p.m.
Thompson defeated Tuscaloosa County to advance.
The Lady Bucs advanced by holding Oak Mountain to single digits in all quarters. The Lady Bucs had 12 steals and were led by Jailyn Maddox with nine points and seven rebounds, Kendra Langham with nine points and six rebounds, and Union University signee Jada Smith chipped in eight points, five rebounds and three assists.
The Hoover boys were to face Oak Mountain on Thursday night in one half of the bracket whole Thompson and Tuscaloosa County were in the other half. Winners meet Saturday at 7.
Spain Park's girls advanced to the Class 7A, Area 6 final by blasting Hewitt-Trussville 60-40 at Spain Park.
Skyla Knight scored 20 points for the Lady Jags (24-8), who will host Mountain Brook at 7 p.m. Friday night. Mountain Brook beat Vestavia Hills to advance.
The Hoover and Spain Park indoor track teams will be competing in the state championships at Birmingham CrossPlex Friday and Saturday for the Class 7A state title.
