Hoover's girls celebrate their state championship.
The Hoover Lady Buccaneers golf team won its second straight state golf championship, winning the Class 7A/6A division at Magnolia Grove Golf Course in Mobile.
The Lady Bucs’ two-day total of 445 was six strokes better than second-place Huntsville. Muscle Shoals finished third with 466 and Auburn fourth with a 475.
“It is very difficult to repeat but this TEAM got it done,” coach Lori Elgin said. “It was a total team effort by a special group of young ladies, especially our seniors ... Elizabeth Moultrie, who shot 78-78 for the tournament, Emily Simpson and Kaily Ford-Davis.
“I am very proud of all of them and their accomplishments the last two years.”
Hoover held a four-stroke lead after day one led by Mychael O'Berry's 69 and Julie Baker's 72.
