Austin Wiley was named the Alabama Sportswriters Association Class 7A Player of the Year on Wednesday.
The junior Auburn commit edged out Tevin Brown (Fairhope) and Kalin Johnson (Gadsden City) for the award. John Petty, the Class 5A Player of the Year, took home overall Mr. Basketball honors.
Wiley averaged 27.1 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game in 31 games this season. In the second year of the classification, Wiley joins Theodore’s Dazon Ingram as 7A POY award winners.
Wiley and teammate Jamal Johnson were also named to the All-State team by the ASWA.
