Students in Katie Collins’ first grade class and Jill Foshee’s third grade class presented their findings from a yearlong study on global issues at a Living Museum in May.
During the 2013-2014 school year, Gwin Elementary School students in Katie Collins’ first grade class and Jill Foshee’s third grade class teamed up to learn how to make a positive change in the world.
Collins and Foshee co-wrote and received a grant from the Hoover City Schools Foundation to undergo a yearlong study on global issues.
Their classes worked collaboratively to learn about government, democracy, world geography, community, entrepreneurship, plants, sustainable farming, conservation, money, careers and how to become better citizens at home and around the world.
In May, the students presented their findings to community members at a Living Museum entitled “Project First Class Citizens.”
