Preston Levert Mitchell attained the highest achievement awarded by the Boy Scouts of America — Eagle Scout.
Mitchell, who was a member of Troop 119, also achieved membership in the Order of the Arrow, which is equivalent to the National Honor Society in Scouting, and is a Life member of the National Eagle Scout Association.
Mitchell’s Eagle Scout project was at the Moss Rock Preserve in Hoover, where he replaced a rotten fence and posts around one of the parking lots. He also added two benches, giving a resting point and an opportunity to sit and enjoy the views in the nature park.
Mitchell is the son of Hoover residents Lee and Monica Yates Mitchell and brother to Lee Mitchell Jr. He is a student at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, where he is majoring in computer science. In college, Mitchell has been inducted into the Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
