I am extremely proud to be your mayor and to live in a great city that I am happy to call home. Springtime is here, and we have many exciting things to share with you.
We will showcase our new art gallery in the lobby of the Hoover Municipal Complex this spring. The Hoover Arts Alliance has made this one of its many projects to select quality art to be displayed in our gallery. Each artist chosen will display art for two months, giving residents plenty of time to view and enjoy it.
Many people like to do spring cleaning each year, so it’s a great time to clean out your garage and get rid of old paint, chemicals or anything else you don’t want hanging around your garage or house. Our annual Household Hazardous Waste Day will be held at the Hoover Met on Saturday, April 20 from 8 a.m.– noon. You will have to show your driver’s license to prove you are a Hoover resident prior to dropping off items. We will be collecting prescription medications, fireworks and computers, as well as properly disposing of flags. Please visit our website for a complete list of items.
One of our biggest events of the year, Celebrate Hoover Day, will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., so be sure to save the date! This family fun day is free and held at Veterans Park on Valleydale Road, where there is plenty of parking. More details about the event will be in the April issue of the Mayor’s Minute, or you can visit our new and improved website that went live mid February at hooveralabama.gov.
We hope you can join us at the Hoover Met on March 26 when UAB takes on the Crimson Tide. This will be a great way to kick off baseball in Hoover. The SEC
Baseball Tournament will be here May 21-26 at the Hoover Met. This promises to be another exciting event in our City.
We want to exceed your expectations in every way with the quality of services we offer. Please contact our office if we can be of assistance to you.
