Summer is in full swing, which means picnics, long days at the pool and cookouts where folks are grilling. July is the peak month for grill fires and roughly half of the injuries involving grills are thermal burns. Be sure and visit the City of Hoover Fire Department’s Facebook page where we have listed numerous safety tips to keep you and your family safe while you are cooking out this summer.
If you had a chance to attend our Hot Rod Power Tour, we hope you enjoyed this event at the Hoover Met. We also invite you to attend Freedom Fest at the Hoover Met. We will continue to work to bring you state of the art events that are free and family oriented.
Be sure you visit the Hoover Library this summer. The summer reading program is in full swing and a great way to spend your days getting lost in a good book. Reading is one of my favorite past times and our Library is one of the best in the country. You can find anything for the youngest readers to the seasoned veteran readers.
Be sure and save the date for our National Night Out held on Aug. 4 at the Grove Shopping Center. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit with our police and fire community partnerships and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are fighting back. This is always a very successful event and refreshments will be provided.
We have many activities and events going on in our city this summer. Please be sure to visit our website for a complete list of events at hooveralabama.gov or call 444-7500.
Please remember, your elected officials and the city staff are here to serve you so please don’t hesitate to contact our office.
