UPDATE: Hoover City Schools reports that there are more police resources on campus today, Oct. 6, in response to a letter threatening suicide found on campus. Some students have reportedly come forward with information, and school resource officers are continuing to investigate.
Administrators and school resource officers (SROs) found several copies of an anonymous letter in boys' restrooms throughout Hoover High School on Monday. The letter indicates the author is depressed and threatening suicide.
Police report the author of the letter did not make threats to anyone other than himself. It is unknown if the letter is from a troubled student seeking help or a potential hoax.
SROs are working to determine the origin of the letter. Anyone with information about the person or people responsible for the letter are encouraged to contact a teacher or SRO.
"Police and school officials continue to investigate this incident and remain committed to ensuring the safety of all students and employees," said Capt. Gregg Rector.
