Two suspects have been identified and formally charged with the car theft attempt that happened on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 14. A homeowner on Cottage Lane was warming his truck when he discovered a male suspect sitting in the driver’s seat. As the suspect fled on foot he fired a handgun at the homeowner, who returned fire. Neither was injured.
Wednesday afternoon Birmingham East Precinct officers stopped a stolen Lexus and took the female driver into custody. The Lexus was stolen in a Mountain Brook carjacking that occurred two hours after the Hoover attempt. Mountain Brook and Birmingham officers took two additional male suspects into custody in reference to the stolen Lexus. Hoover detectives have determined that the two males were responsible for the Hoover case. Arrest warrants were obtained on Jan. 16 at the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, Bessemer Division. The suspects are charged as follows:
Antwone Lucious Weaver, 19, Birmingham.
- Robbery 1st degree: $60,000.00 bond
- Attempted Murder: $60,000.00 bond
- Shooting into an unoccupied vehicle:15,000.00 bond
- Total Bond: $135,000.00

- Robbery 1st degree: $60,000.00 bond
Weaver and Bailey were recently transferred from Mountain Brook City Jail to Jefferson County Jail.
