Hoover police have arrested a second suspect in a March robbery.
Police on Sept. 1 obtained a warrant charging 65-year-old Cleveland, Tennessee, resident Roy S. Ensley with first-degree robbery. He was arrested on a traffic stop in Etowah, Tennessee, and is in the McMinn County Jail awaiting extradition to Jefferson County Jail, according to a press release from the Hoover Police Department. His bond is set at $150,000.
On March 29, a victim reported he was robbed at gunpoint at the Courtyard Marriott hotel on Montgomery Highway in Hoover. He was reportedly lured to the hotel on the pretense of a scheme in which he could exchange small denominations of cash for large denominations of cash. At the hotel, he was robbed by two men, Czeskleba said.
Hoover detectives charged one suspect, 75-year-old Chattanooga resident Donald Lewis Smith, after hearing of a similar crime which occurred in Perry, Georgia, police Lt. Keith Czeskleba said. Smith was charged with first-degree robbery on Aug. 24, and his bond was set at $150,000. He is in the Hamilton County Jail awaiting extradition to Alabama.
