1012 Galleria Makeover
Riverchase Galleria has seen several shops close their doors this month.
Riverchase Galleria has seen several shops close their doors this month. Wet Seal and Body Central closed in early January due to bankruptcies of the national chains, and Delia’s is set to close soon for the same reason. Banana Republic, White House Black Market and Sbarro Pizza also announced the end of their Galleria locations.
However, Galleria marketing manager Angela Jacks said the shuttered shops won’t stay empty for long.
“You hate seeing stores close, but there’s high demand for our retail space,” Jacks said. “With the closing comes the opportunity to bring in new retailers.”
Sbarro will be replaced by a Villa Pizza location, which Jacks said will begin construction in February. She could not give any details about the new tenants for the other five leasing spaces because the brands are not yet ready to make the announcement, but Jacks said she is looking forward to seeing the new stores arrive.
While those stores remain a mystery, Jacks said other new tenants are getting ready to open their doors. A Vans shoe and clothing store is under construction in the former site of the Aeropostale, and Jolie Grace Boutique starts construction in February to replace Baker’s Shoes. A Rue 21 store and K’s Formal round out the other new additions to the Galleria.
“It’s an exciting time for us,” Jacks said. “We’re really excited about what’s coming.”
