During tonight's meeting, the City Council adopted the Community Development Block Grant Program 2014 Action Plan.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is a federally funded program, which provides grants to carry out a wide range of community development activities directed toward neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and improved community facilities and services. Beginning in 1974, the CDBG program is one of the longest continuously run programs at the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Projects in Hoover under the program include Project Homeless Connect, various after-school programs and the Patton Chapel Road project.
Also during the meeting, Hoover Executive Director Allen Pate stated that the Jefferson County tag renewal office opened this morning at the Hoover Met and is operating smoothly.
"It is open to anyone in Jefferson County, not just Hoover residents," Pate said.
