A man was arrested on Christmas Eve after reportedly trying to steal men’s clothing from Von Maur.
Police responded to the report of a shoplifter fighting with employees on Dec. 24 at 11 a.m.
Employees at the Von Maur at Riverchase Galleria reportedly saw the man, identified as 41-year-old Fairfield resident Leonard Renard McCray, attempting to conceal two pairs of men’s shorts and leave the store without paying. The employees confronted McCray, who then struck and shoved the employees, according to police.
The clothing was recovered and McCray was taken into custody. Police also reported there was a small baggie containing heroin in McCray’s pocket.
Police obtained warrants for McCray on Saturday, Dec. 26. The warrants were for third degree robbery and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, with McCray’s total bond set at $20,000.
