Many churches in the Hoover area are having special services on Christmas Eve.
Some are candlelight services, and some will include communion, but some churches’ websites did not indicate whether candles or communion would be a part of their services. Here’s a rundown on what we could find:
- A2 Church, 6 Greenhill Parkway — Candlelight and communion services at 4 and 6 p.m.
- Asbury United Methodist Church, 6690 Cahaba Valley Road — traditional candlelight and communion services at 4, 8 and 11 p.m.; contemporary candlelight and communion service for youth at 6 p.m.
- Bluff Park Baptist Church, 2211 McGwier Drive — candlelight service at 5 p.m.
- Bluff Park United Methodist Church, 733 Valley St. — Candlelight and communion services at 4 and 6 p.m.
- Briarwood Presbyterian Church, 2200 Briarwood Way — family candlelight service at 5 p.m.; communion candlelight service at 11 p.m.
- Chapel in the Pines Presybterian Church, 2269 Chapel Road — candlelight and communion service at 6 p.m.

Some churches also have services scheduled for Christmas Day:
- Christ the King Lutheran Church has a Christmas morning service at 9 a.m., to which many people, including the pastor, wear pajamas as a tradition.
- Prince of Peace Catholic Church has mass for English speakers at 9 a.m. on Christmas morning and mass for people who speak Spanish at 11 a.m.
- The Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles has scheduled a Holy Eucharist service at 10:30 a.m. on Christmas morning.
