One person has died in a single-vehicle crash on I-459, according to Hoover police.
Lt. Keith Czeskleba of Hoover PD said that on Aug. 18 around 2:30 a.m., police and fire reported to the crash, which occurred on I-459 south just before Parkwood Road Bridge.
According to police, witnesses reported that a Ford F-150 was driving above the speed limit, lost control and left the roadway. The truck then hit a tree and caught fire, according to the report.
The driver was the sole occupant of the truck, and he died at the scene. He has been identified as a 24-year-old white man from Bessemer, but his name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
The crash is under investigation by Hoover Police traffic investigators.
