Authorities today released the identities of the two people killed in single-vehicle traffic accidents in Hoover early Saturday morning and early Thursday morning.
The 20-year-old Hoover woman whose 2001 Honda Accord left Alabama 150 and struck a tree near the entrance to Lake Cyrus was identified as Laura Cristina Buitrago-Diaz. Police responded to that wreck at 12:18 a.m. Saturday.
The 24-year-old Bessemer man who lost control of a Ford F-150 on Interstate 459 South just before the Parkwood Road bridge and struck a tree about 2:30 a.m. Thursday was identified as Dillon Connor Reister. Reister’s vehicle caught fire. Witnesses told police he was driving above the speed limit when he lost control.
Both Buitrago-Diaz and Reister were the only people in the vehicles they were driving, and both were pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
