By mid-April, Donut Joe's — home of the Maple Bacon Donut — will open a new location in the former Pop's Donuts site next to Jersey Mike’s.
The store offers varieties such as black raspberry, German chocolate, red velvet, Butterfinger and apple fritter donuts. Joe's also offers a variety of coffee drinks and beans, ground or whole, including the popular "Jamaica Me Crazy."
"We're like a Starbucks and a Dunkin' Donuts in one," said owner Richard Byrd.
Byrd said their original Pelham store gets a lot of traffic from Hoover, with some people driving up to 20 miles for a donut.
"Now, we'll be closer to them," he said.
Byrd hopes to have the donut shop, located in the former Pop Donuts location next to Jersey Mike’s, open by mid-April. The store updates its Facebook and Twitter with specials, such as a "check-in" for a free donut offer.
Donut Joe's new location is 1851 Montgomery Highway, Suite 111. Visit donutjoes.com or facebook.com/pages/Donut-Joes/249047411946.
