Police Ride-Along
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office today released the identities of two gunshot victims found dead in a Deer Valley home Wednesday.
The victims were identified as Jimmy Edward Seritt, 56, and Robin Elizabeth Brown, 51. Their bodies were discovered by one of Seritt's family members, who was concerned when he did not come to work Wednesday morning.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the residence at 5532 Colony Lane in The Village at Deer Valley was Seritt's home and Brown had also been living there for a short time. Brown had recently moved from Florida, Yates said.
Seritt's family member called police at 10:37 a.m. Wednesday. Both victims had suffered gunshot wounds, but Yates said authorities are waiting on more forensic evidence and follow-up interviews before establishing an exact cause of death.
Hoover police Capt. Gregg Rector said Wednesday that police do not believe there is a threat to anyone else.
“We don’t believe at this point that there is a gunman at large,” Rector said.
