Hoover City Council President Pro Tem Brian Skelton commended city workers involved in hosting the 2015 SEC Baseball Tournament at the Hoover Met stadium last month.
Skelton, during the Monday, June 1 city council meeting, said he and other city officials received many positive comments from fans of the 12 SEC teams that attended games during the May 19-24 tournament.
"Our staff did an incredible job," Skelton said."I've heard so many compliments from fans. They filled our restaurants and businesses."
The University of Alabama and Auburn University baseball teams were among the teams competing in the tourney, which ended with the Florida Gators hosting the championship trophy. Hoover Mayor Gary Ivey said this was the city's 18th straight year hosting the SEC Baseball Tournament, adding the event gets bigger every year.
"We had over 132,000 baseball fans here at the tournament," Ivey said. "It was great exposure for the city of Hoover."
