Wiley dominant for Jags in Nashville tournament

Spain Park traveled to Nashville, Tenn., to take part in the Next Level Hoops Fest Monday through Wednesday. The Jags came away with a pair of victories, as center and Auburn commit Austin Wiley could not be stopped.

In the first game of the tournament, the Jags fell victim to the turnover bug as they lost, 90-76, to Ballard (KY). Spain Park lost the turnover battle 23-11 and lost 17 points in points off turnovers.

Spain Park put three guys over 20 points, led by Wiley's 23-point, ten-rebound performance. Jamal Johnson also scored 23 in the game, adding six rebounds and three assists, and Justin Brown added 20. 

Ballard's Jamil Wilson could not be stopped, as he scored 37 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and 14-of-16 from the free throw line.

The Jags responded with a 77-62 victory over Christ Presbyterian (TN) on Tuesday. Wiley's line of 26 points, 15 boards, and six blocks led the team. Brown scored 12, and Johnson and Parker Boswell each scored ten. Johnson's ten points were part of a double-double performance, as he added ten rebounds and five assists.

Wiley wrapped up his outstanding tournament with 27 points and 17 rebounds in a 70-53 victory over Baptist Prep (AR). 

Spain Park will now prepare for area play, as the Jags take on Hewitt-Trussville at 7:30 p.m. on January 5.
