Vacarella named Player of the Week for Hoover

by

Sophomore surprise quarterback Christopher Vacarella has been named the Bucs Player of the Week by The Hoover Sun.

When the game began, Vacarella was a backup quarterback only because of an injury.

The Bucs (7-0) started senior Jason Burton at quarterback because of an injury to Jake Hutcheson. When Burton was injured on the game's third play, the job fell to a tenth grader, Vacarella.

Although the first two drives ended in disappointment for the young field general, Bucs Head Coach Josh Niblett stuck with his young leader, who ultimately led his team to a 28-6 victory over Hillcrest of Tuscaloosa.

This week, Hoover readies for an important game against Minor on Friday.
