In baseball, they call it a pitchers’ duel.  In football, it’s a defensive struggle.  Some fans might call it a sloppy game, but the Spain Park Jaguars can call it a win.

The Chelsea Hornets can only call it a heartbreaking loss.

The defensive classic remained scoreless after the first quarter, allowing two early Spain Park touchdowns to stand in a 14-0 victory.

The Hornets’ defense held the Jaguars’ star back Otis Harris to 42 yards on just 15 carries.  Spain Park, in turn, held Chelsea to a meager 49 yards of offense in the first half.

Quarterback Mickey Forrest led the Jaguars’ air attack with 120 yards an a touchdown pass.  Chelsea was paced by A.J. Jones, who ran for 90 yards on just 13 carries.

Despite being shut out, Chelsea’s offense actually outgained the Spain Park attack by a margin of 191 to 173.

The Jaguars rise to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in their region.  The loss drops Chelsea to 1-2 and 0-2.

Next week, Spain Park hosts the same Wetumpka team that edged Chelsea last week.

Chelsea hits the road next week to face Stanhope Elmore in Millbrook.
