Spain Park competes at cheerleading championship

Spain Park High School's Competitve Cheer Squad competed at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship last weekend in Orlando, Fla.

The team finished eighth in the national in the Large Division I category, in an event featuring over 450 teams nationwide.

The state of Alabama sent 39 teams to compete across 11 categories.

Members of Spain Park's team are Abby Anglin, Megan Baker, Eve Brune, Mary Carson Collins, Payton Dennis, Brooke Gilliam, Halle Hoagland, Isabella Hollis, Morgan Lambert, Mimi Martens, Carolena Miller, Lauren Nicholas, Ann Odom, Claire Pate, Lauren Plaia, Sarah Reed Stacey, Mackenzie Stewart, Madelyne Vinson, Victoria Whitten, Morgyn Widra, Carson Williams and Lina Zaharias.

The team is coached by Ashelie Halla and Emily Dunn.
