A handful of Southeastern Conference football coaches and a host of other celebrities took to the links on Wednesday in the Regions Tradition Pro-Am, held at the Greystone Golf and Country Club.

"I love getting out and playing golf and enjoying myself," Auburn head football coach Gus Malzahn said before taking his warmups on the driving range.

Malzahn Nick Saban (Alabama), Hugh Freeze (Ole Miss), Dan Mullen (Mississippi State), and Kirby Smart (Georgia) all took part in the event, which gives the football coaches a chance to compete somewhere besides the gridiron.

"I love competing and golf is one of the few things I can compete at," Freeze said.

In the practice round Tuesday, Freeze got the best of Malzahn.

"Oh, there's competition, there's no doubt," Malzahn said. "I think Hugh Freeze plays more than anybody, so he has an advantage. He's the guy that everybody's going after."

The group that drew many eyes in the morning was that of the always colorful professional John Daly, who was joined by former Auburn football star Bo Jackson, Alabama basketball coach Avery Johnson, and American Idol winner Taylor Hicks.

Among other public figures on hand, former Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice, TV personality Steve Harvey, and former South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier all participated in the Pro-Am.
