Hoover City Schools approved a raise for Hoover High football coach Josh Niblett this week, making him the highest-paid coach in the state.

The Hoover school board boosted Niblett’s total compensation to $125,000 from $114,471. Niblett led the Bucs to their third straight state championship when they won the state's inaugural Class 7A title over Prattville.

The school board also gave Spain Park football coach Shawn Raney a raise from $108,695 to $115,000. The Jags went 6-4 this season, narrowly missing the playoffs.
