Jaguars top Prattville in thrilling overtime victory

There’s nothing quite like a walk-off touchdown.

The second touchdown of the night for Otis Harris was decisive, because it came in overtime and gave Spain Park a thrilling 19-13 victory over national power Prattville.

Harris led the Jaguars’ offense with 110 yards on 28 carries, but it was his second touchdown that will go down in the annals of Spain Park history.

Prattville had taken the lead, 16 to 13, with a field goal in their overtime possession. The Harris touchdown ended the game and provided one of the great victories in Spain Park history.

Overtime was a fitting result for such an evenly played game. The teams were only 14 yards apart in total offense (299 to 285), and were only one first down apart (16 to 15).  

Quarterback Mickey Forrest led the aerial attack with 175 yards passing, completing 15 of his 24 attempts. Dalton Brown had 75 yards receiving on only three catches, and Derek Williams added 48 yards on four catches.

The Jaguars’ defense kept the game close, allowing only 13 points in four quarters of regulation play. Star running back and Auburn commitment Kamryn Pettway, rushed for 159 yards, but the Spain Park defenders held the rest of the team to only 140 yards.

Next week, Spain Park hosts the Chelsea Hornets (1-1), who suffered a 25-23 loss to Thompson.
