Hoover uses big run in fourth quarter to beat Pelham

In the second day of the Steel City Invitational, Hoover pulled away to defeat Pelham, 66-45, on Monday morning.

The Bucs held the lead for most of the way, but a big 19-4 run in the middle of the fourth quarter solidified the outcome. 

Jamari Blackmon had a big game for Hoover, scoring 21 points and knocking down all 11 of his attempts from the free throw line, while also distributing four assists. Justin Rumph played well, scoring 16 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting performance. He also chipped in five rebounds and four steals. 

A big advantage in the game for the Bucs was their ability to take advantage of Pelham mistakes. Hoover finished the game with 27 points off of 21 turnovers, and allowed just seven points off of their own turnovers.

Alex Reese, a four-star prospect, led Pelham's offense with 21 points, as the 6-foot-10 power forward shot 7-of-12 from the floor.

The Bucs improved to 1-1 in the tournament after the win, as they lost to Woodlawn on Saturday. They play their final game in the tournament at Samford on Tuesday at noon, against Bessemer City.
