High school teams prep for Friday games

The Hoover Buccaneers, who have bounced back nicely after two tough losses to out-of-state powers, travel to Thompson for another Class 7A, Region 3 contest. The Bucs (2-2, 2-0) have posted back-to-back shutouts of Mountain Brook and Oak Mountain, and the offense came alive for 35 points against Oak Mountain last week. Friday's kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Spain Park lost its first game of the season at Tuscaloosa County last week, dropping a 26-7 decision. The Jaguars (3-1, 1-1) stay in Class 7A, Region 3 play when they host Hewitt-Trussville on Friday at 7 p.m. It will be the first meeting ever between the two schools.

Shades Mountain Christian won its opener then went on the road and took three tough losses. The Eagles return home for a Friday night game at 7 against Victory Christian from Pell City in a Class 1A, Region 5 game.
