Hoover indoor track places 1st, 3rd at Ice Breaker Invitational

Hoover's indoor track teams competed at the Ice Breaker Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex over the weekend.

The girls indoor track placed first in the Class 6A-7A overall standings by a large margin, racking up 88 points, over 30 more than James Clemens in second place.

Sydney Steely placed first in the 800 meter run and third in the 400 meter dash to lead the Lady Bucs.

Caitlyn Little (60 meter hurdles) and Presley Weems (1600 meter run) also placed first in their respective events. Little also placed in the 60 meter dash.

Ava Weems placed fourth in the 1600 meter run and fifth in the 800 meter run. Camiya Knight came in fourth in the 400 meter dash and also ran in the 60 meter dash.

Caroline Franklin competed in the 800 and 1600 meter runs, finishing seventh and eleventh, respectively. Kyla Horn was sixth in the triple jump.

In the pole vault, Angelika DeRubbo placed fourth, followed by Natalie Tashman in fifth.

As a team, Hoover finished second in the 4x800 meter relay and third in the 4x200 meter relay and 4x400 meter relay, 

Other girls that placed in various events for Hoover are: Michelle Nkoudou, Alexia Wilson, Camiya McCary, Adetola Koiki, Deja Washington, Kenedi Jones, Jordyn Johnson, Danah Dib, Erin Cannon, Jordan Logan, Jaela Walker, Sophia Rodas, Jordan Shockley, Ashley Shanks, Haley Stallworth, Bethany Deuel, Hannah Pope, Abbi Pearman, Alison Rocco, Amellia Rumore, Ayana Eason, Maya Ray, Halie Penton, Zharya Estrick, Erin Williams, Adasia Hubbard, Morgan Johnson. 

On the boys side of the event, the Bucs placed third overall, with 46 points, behind Opelika and Hewitt-Trussville.

Top finishers for the boys include Tommy McDonough (fourth), Joe Leventry (sixth), and Jimmy Johnson (ninth) in the 800 meter run, Alex Leary (ninth) in the 1600 meter run, John Paul Rumore (fourth) and Evan Franklin (sixth) in the 3200 meter run, and Jacob Doak (second), Cross Jenkins (fourth), James Courson (fourth), and Matthew Green (seventh) in the pole vault.

A team of Leventry, Rumore, McDonough, and Leary finished second in the 4x800 meter relay.
