Hoover High Basketball wins Alaska tournament

The undefeated Hoover Bucs boy’s basketball team won the Alaska Airlines Tournament held Jan. 10-12 in Anchorage.

West High School hosted Hoover, a team from Louisiana, one from Florida and several from their home state for the tournament.

Hoover defeated Thunder Mountain 70-45 in the title game on Jan. 12. The Bucs defeated Service 88-85 in the semi-finals on Jan. 10. The Anchorage Daily News reported that the “Alabamans” (Hoover Sun correction: Alabamians with an i) “netted 13 of 26 shots from 3-point range to outgun Service, which was 5 of 15 from 3-point range.”
