When the state’s dominant program collides with a rebuilding team led by a first-year coach, the result could be ugly.

It was.

The Hoover Bucs stormed to a 63-0 victory over Jackson Olin, which is led by first-year coach Jim Vakakes.  Despite the numbers on the scoreboard, Hoover Head Coach Josh Niblett was impressed with the direction in which Vakakes has taken the Jackson Olin program.  “Coach has already done an excellent job,” Niblett explained.  “He is doing things the right way, and he knows how to use the athletes he has.  That program is headed in an upward direction."

While the future may look bright for Vakakes and Jackson Olin, the present clearly belonged to Niblett’s Hoover team.  The Bucs scored on their first seven possessions, and held their starters out of the game after half-time.

Hoover was once again led by quarterback who passed for three touchdowns and 142 yards.  The ground attack was paced by both Marcus Webb and Aaron Lawler, who each scored two touchdowns.

The win marks the 18th consecutive victory for Hoover, which holds firm to its number one ranking in the State of Alabama.
