Hoover boys beat Spain Park as soccer playoffs open

Hoover defeated Spain Park 3-0 in the opening round of the Class 7A state playoffs.

Ian McIntosh scored the first goal on a corner kick from Alex Tovar in the third minute for the Buccaneers (18-4-1). Tovar scored the second goal unassisted in the seventh minute. Joel Charles scored the third goal assisted by Tovar in the 37th minute.

Jackson Hoesley made three saves in goal for the shutout.
