Bumpus Lady Bucs raise money and awareness in game against Simmons

The R.F. Bumpus Middle School Lady Bucs raised money and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society when they took on Hoover rival Simmons Middle School on Jan. 18. The Lady Bucs’ public service project raised $158.83 by the end of the night that kicked off the team’s “Pennies for Patients” campaign.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to funding blood cancer research for both children and adults and providing education and patient service.

The seventh-grade Lady Bucs also participated in the Huntsville tournament over the school break beating Boaz and Guntersville.

The coaches are Toni Leo and Catoya Smith for the eighth grade team and  Malisa Barnett and Rod Grizzard for the seventh grade team.
