Bucs to face Hewitt-Trussville in Baseball Semi-Finals

The Hoover Baseball Team has moved on to the Semi-Final Round of the State Playoffs. The Bucs will take on Hewitt-Trussville in a best-of-three series beginning Friday, May 10 in Montgomery. Game times have yet to be announced.

Hoover’s trip through the Alabama High School Athletic Association State Playoffs began April 19 against Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa. The Bucs needed three games to take down the Patriots. They lost the first game of the series 7-3, but finished out with wins of 13-1 and 10-3.

The second round, played April 26-27, pitted Hoover against Tuscaloosa County. The Bucs won the series with two shutouts, 9-0 and 3-0.

In the third round, Hoover defeated Bob Jones 8-1 and 4-3.

If the Bucs defeat Hewitt-Trussville this weekend, they will move on to face the winner of the series between Auburn and Fairhope in the State Championship on May 17-18.

Behind Head Coach Rick Davis, the Buccaneers have a record of 41-15 heading into the Semi-Finals. The journey through the state tournament is familiar ground for Davis. He’s led 14 teams to the tournament in his 19-year tenure as head baseball coach for Hoover. His success was recognized with the highest honors in the state when he was inducted to the Alabama Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in January.
