Bucs fall to Woodlawn in Steel City Invitational

Hoover struggled offensively in a 59-43 loss to Woodlawn in the first round of the Steel City Invitational on Saturday in the Pete Hanna Center at Samford University.

The Bucs shot just 32% from the field on the day and had no scorer over three points in the first half.

Woodlawn bridged the second and third quarters with a combined 22-3 run to pull away and maintain the margin the rest of the way.

Jamari Blackmon led Hoover (2-10) with 12 points and six rebounds on the day. Kevy Eason joined him in double figures, with ten points. Anthony Jefferson finished with eight points and four boards, while Justin Rumph chipped in six points and six rebounds.

UAB signee Javien Williams led the charge for the Colonels, notching a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. He was 6-13 shooting and sunk eight of his ten free throw attempts.

The reigning Class 7A state champions return to action in the Steel City Invitational again on Monday.
