Shades Crest holds High Country 5K

Shades Crest Baptist Church held its 16th annual High Country 5K race on April 9. The team from Shades Mountain Elementary won the race, followed by Bluff Park in second and Deer Valley in third.

Over 70 elementary school students from Bluff Park, Shades Mountain, South Shades Crest, Deer Valley and Rocky Ridge participated in the challenge. The top four runners times from each school team are averaged and then 10 seconds for each additional runner is subtracted to give each team their race time. The team with the fastest time takes home the trophy. The students are running over a very difficult, certified race course.
