Simmons to host supper to benefit Fine Arts Department

Simmons Middle School is hosting a Sights, Sounds, and Supper to benefit its Fine Arts Department Friday, April 12 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the school.

A lasagna dinner will be served, and there will be student band, theater, and choral performances; an art walk; and a silent auction of items donated by local merchants.

Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for children under four.

This year proceeds from Sights, Sounds and Supper will go to offset the cost of sending the theater department to the National Young Thespians Festival in Augusta, Ga., where they performed “Once on This Island.” The cast was one of three middle schools chosen from schools throughout the United States to perform. The students were also able to attend workshops and lectures and compete against other schools with single and ensemble performances.

Simmons is also the proud home to other fine arts programs such as the SMS Jazz Band and Chamber Ensembles, Synergy Show Choir and a vibrant visual arts program.
